Here is an excellent specimen of a tooth from Triceratops horridus, a herbiverous dinosaur. This tooth was found in the Cretaceous deposits of South Dakota. This type of dinosaur is a ceratopsian, or ''horned dinosaur''. The 3-dimensional tooth is free of matrix and has nice, dark, brownish-black coloration. A lengthy portion of the root is still intact. The chisel-edged top of the tooth is beautifully displayed, and the corrugations of the enamel are very distinct. The tooth is nicely presented in its own plastic display case. This is a great Triceratops tooth from the Hell Creek Formation.
