EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Excellent Plesiosaur Tooth
Stock Number  XVPL304
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:    Elasmosaurus Tooth
Age:  Cretaceous
Formation:  Mosasaur Beds
Location:  Morocco
Size:  Tooth is 2.7 inches long

This is a wonderful Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous of Morocco. Plesiosaurs were large, vicious marine reptiles. They had extremely long necks and fairly lengthy tails. They swam by means of legs and feet that had developed into oarlike paddles. This dagger-shaped tooth is extremely 3-dimensional and well preserved. The corrugated, dark-brown enamel is beautifully displayed, and the very tip of the tooth shows a small amount of natural wear. A portion of the root of the tooth is still intact. The fossil has excellent color and contrasts well with the sand-colored matrix. The tooth is nicely positioned on the block of sandstone - NATURAL, NOT COMPOSITED on the plate. And there is even a nice Mosasaur tooth preserved on the back side of the rock! This is a superb example of a Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous seas.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
