Two Large Hadrosaur Eggs on Matrix Block
Stock Number  DSEHM02
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:    Dendroolithus sp. (Hadrosaur Eggs)
Age:  Cretaceous
Formation:  Kaoguo Formation
Location:  Xixia Basin, Henan Province, China
Size:  Each egg is 6.5 inches across

These fossilized eggs, Dendroolithus, are from a Hadrosaur dinosaur. Most ''duck-billed'' dinosaurs laid their eggs in nests of a dozen or more eggs. Usually, hatching and scavenging damaged the nests, obliterating any trace of the eggs that remained. Occasionally, some eggs survived predators and the elements, and eventually became fossils. Because of their delicate nature, intact eggs are very rare in the fossil record. Dinosaur eggs that retain their original shape and eggshell are some of the most collectible fossils in the world.

There are two eggs wonderfully displayed on this specimen. Both of the eggs are quite large and very inflated. They have great shape and retain a large portion of the original eggshell. The eggs have been microscopically prepared with an air-abrasive machine to reveal the fine detail of the eggshell. The fossil eggs have great color and contrast and are beautifully presented on the large block of matrix. This specimen is sure to be a hit in anyone's home or office.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
