EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Ramphorhynchus Tooth
Stock Number  DSRAM01
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:    Ramphorhynchus (Pterosaur) Tooth
Age:  Jurassic
Formation:  Solnhofen Limestone
Location:  Solnhofen, Germany
Size:  Tooth is 0.2 inches long

This is a very rare fossil tooth. It is a Ramphorhynchus (Pterosaur) tooth from the Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This site has produced some incredibly rare fossils - the famous fossil bird, Archaeopteryx, as well as rare Jurassic pterosaur (flying reptile) remains. This tooth is from the long-tailed pterosaur, Ramphorhynchus. Ramphorhynchus was a swift predator, and had long, forward-facing teeth to catch prey (see photo #2). Our tooth has great texture and even has the full tip intact. The beautiful brown enamel contrasts well with the natural white matrix. How many fossil collections, including museum collections, have a Ramphorhynchus fossil in them this nice? This is simply a VERY collectible tooth from one of the most sought-after creatures of the early "Dinosaur Age" - Ramphorhynchus.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
