Excellent Triple Segnosaur Egg Nest
Stock Number  DSESM02

Name:    Therizinosaurus sp. (Segnosaur)
Age:  Cretaceous
Formation:  Nanchou
Location:  Nanyang Valley, Henan Province, China
Size:  Nest is about 6.5" X 9 inches across

This egg nest is from the dinosaur, Therizinosaurus, which is a Segnosaurid dinosaur. Most Segnosaurs laid their eggs in nests of a dozen or more eggs. Usually, hatching and scavenging damaged the nests, obliterating any trace of the eggs that remained. Occasionally, some eggs survived predators and the elements, and eventually became fossils. Because of their delicate nature, intact eggs are very rare in the fossil record. Dinosaur eggs that retain their original shape and eggshell are some of the most collectible fossils in the world.

This nest has three full eggs intact. They are all inflated and retain their classic "egg" shape". The eggs have almost all of their original eggshell preserved and intact, which is very unusual. And the eggs were laid in a tight cluster, which makes for a great display. This is a collectible nest of eggs from the unusual Segnosaurid dinosaur, Therizinosaurus.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
